During Lace Week, the residents of Old Rauma open their private courtyards to the public. Visitors can explore the beautiful courtyards where they can buy drinks and snacks and browse the flea markets organised by the residents. Please note that the flea markets may be postponed if it rains. Participating residents’ courtyards can be identified by a sign bearing the Old Rauma Association logo.
The courtyards are open to the public as specified by the residents, but most of them welcome visitors between 10.00-18.00.

16.00 Dance and musical art by Taidetrio
Dance artist Iida Paukamainen, pianist René Koivisto and cellist Elina Salenius perform in a trio. The performances consist of two different pieces that include both original compositions and selected classical works. There will be a break of about 20 minutes between the performances, during which you will have the opportunity to explore the rest of the art in Taiderauma. Each performance lasts about 20 minutes.

The exhibition presents the work of Helena Honka-Hallila, who has been named Lace Maker of the Year 2022. Works of Impi Emelia Alanko, a founding member of Pitsikeskus Emelia, and Hilkka Lehtinen, an honorary member of Pitsikeskus Emelia, are also featured in the exhibition.

Marela, the home of shipowners
Marela showcases the life and lifestyle of a wealthy shipowner and his family at the turn of the 1900s, the golden age of seafaring in Rauma. Embroidery and cozy comfort – a Biedermeier parlour in Rauma style. Explore the display of the Biedermeier-style interior and learn about embroidery, a handicraft style that was popular in the era. A sailing boat from the 1920s is displayed in the Marela boatshed.

Kirsti – Sailor’s Home Museum
The Sailor’s Home Museum Kirsti takes visitors back to the olden days. The beautifully preserved courtyard and its buildings give a good idea of what the Old Rauma area looked like a couple of hundred years ago. The interior on the other hand shows how people lived in Old Rauma in different time periods. You can also see a lace maker at work during your visit.

Old Town Hall
In the Old Town Hall, you will find the museum shop Kistupuad, where you can buy local handicrafts and souvenirs. Rauma Museum presents the history of the Rauma lace through its extensive collection of lace in the Old Town Hall. Olga Kublitskaya brings her international bobbin lace exhibition entitled “Sounds of lace” to the Old Town Hall. You can also meet a lace maker at work during your visit.

Rauma Art Museum
Rauma Art Museum celebrates art and creativity that doesn’t fit into predefined categories with the museum’s summer exhibition “Lintu ja kala!” (“Fish and Fowl!”). A Bronze Age burial site in Kivikylä, Lappi, consisting of a total of 36 burial cairns. During the summer, you can find a guide on site from 11:00 am to 5:00pm (Mon-Fri). Non-stop guided tours start from the southern information point (Savulaaksontie 181).

Rauma Maritime Museum
The Rauma Maritime Museum’s permanent exhibition explores the history of seafaring, maritime education and shipbuilding in Rauma and the life of sailors both at sea and on land. The old Nautical College building explores the history of maritime education in Rauma and tests out modern methods of education in a navigation simulator. The museum’s renewed room, “Raumanmeri”, explores the themes of environmental education.

The Old Rauma Telephone Museum
The exhibition explores the history of the telephone. The collection is based on material collected over 50 years, the oldest of which dates back to 1870 and the most recent to the 2020s.
