The noblest of lace – The history of bobbin lace in Rauma
Marela, Kauppakatu 24. The exhibition explores the early years of lacemaking in Rauma in the 1800s. The exhibition displays some of the oldest bobbin laces made in Rauma borrowed from the collections of the National Museum, the Design Museum, the Museum Centre of Turku and the Satakunta Museum. These laces have not been previously displayed in Rauma. Lacemaker Pirjo Vänni has created modern variations from lace for the exhibition. Alongside the exhibition, the museum carries out a present-day documenting project on lacemaking. The results of the project will be published during Lace Week. Open every day between 10:00–17:00.
