9 Lace agility 2018 competition Susivuori field, Pulttivahe 2. Dog agility event, where the handlers are wearing lace. The best lace outfits are awarded. There are over a thousand agility performances and participants from all over Finland. The competition starts on Friday 20.7. at 16 and continues on Saturday and Sunday. Organiser: Rauman Käyttö- ja Seurakoirat ry.

10–15 Café of Lännen Martat Kanalinranta 3, courtyard of the city hall. Coffee, doughnuts, danishes, cakes, bread loaves. Opening hours vary.

11–16 Skriivarit Raumal – demonstration of the calligraphy association Jokela, Kuninkaankatu 38, instruction from the courtyard. The experts of the calligraphy association offer an introduction to the world of beautiful letters. Open daily.

11–17 Tammela summer garden Tammela, Eteläpitkäkatu 17. Programme for both adults and children. A café. Hand-made products for sale and on display. Blacksmiths forging iron and the public can also try forging. A knife exhibition.

11.30 Guided walking tour Start at the Old Town Hall, Kauppakatu 13. Duration 1,5 hours, price 6 € (in cash to the guide). The guided tour is bilingual, Finnish/English.

12–16 Sunday flea market at the market place 5 €/selling table, an extra table 3 €.

12–16 Home museum 30 years!  Teresia and Rafael Lönnström’s Home Museum, Syväraumankatu 41. It has been 30 years since the home museum was opened. Museum open 12-16. In celebration of the anniversary, free entrance to the museum.

15–17 Summer event in Sammallahdenmäki Southern info checkpoint, Savulaaksontie 181. The event starts with a guided walking tour at 15.00 from the checkpoint. The tour languages are Finnish and English, contrary to the information on the printed programme. Duration of the tour 1 hour, free of charge. The terrain is rough, so the route of the guided tour can be challenging in some places.

  • 16 Concert: Pömpeli Folk music group from Härmä plays traditional songs with over 20 years of performance and recording experience.

18 Remembering Kuula and Merikanto – gems of Finnish music Church of the Holy Cross, Luostarinkatu 1. Saara Kukko, mezzosoprano, and Piia Eskola, piano, perform in the church. It is the 100th anniversary of Toivo Kuula’s death and the 150th anniversary of Oskar Merikanto’s birth. The songs performed in the concert are mainly the works of these two significant composers. 20 Evening greeting The tower of the Old City Hall, Valtakatu 2. Juho Vilo, trumpet. The greeting of Rauma Brass Band Association.

Open yards in Old Rauma Old Rauma Association organises an event of open yards and flea markets during the Lace Week. Locals and tourists have an opportunity to take a look at the gardens and yards. The yards are open for visitors when there is an Old Rauma Association sign at the gate.

Lace window competition The entrepreneurs of Old Rauma have for many years honoured the theme of the week in their shop windows. The public has a possibility to vote for the best lace window of the week during the event.
