9 Lace agility 2018 competition Susivuori field, Pulttivahe 2. Dog agility event, where the handlers are wearing lace. The best lace outfits are awarded. There are over a thousand agility performances and participants from all over Finland. The competition starts on Friday 20.7. at 16 and continues on Saturday and Sunday. Organiser: Rauman Käyttö- ja Seurakoirat ry.

10 Lace Week opening ceremony Helsingintori square. The Lace Week festivities are opened with bringing flowers to the Lacemaker statue, music and speeches.

10–18 XIX Pitsiturnaus YD, Lace tournament in pétanque Uotila pétanque court, Sippolankuja 1. Participants come from all over Finland. The games can be watched at the side of court. Snack bar, WC. Organiser: UTU-Petankki.

11–16 Skriivarit Raumal – demonstration of the calligraphy association Jokela, Kuninkaankatu 38, instruction from the courtyard. The experts of the calligraphy association offer an introduction to the world of beautiful letters. Open daily.

11–17 Tammela summer garden Tammela, Eteläpitkäkatu 17. Programme for both adults and children. A café. Hand-made products for sale and on display. Blacksmiths forging iron and the public can also try forging. A knife exhibition.

11.30 The opening of ”Lace Sure Holds Its Value” exhibition by Lacemakers’ Association Poselli, Nortamonkatu 12. Lace plays the leading role in the maritime-themed exhibition of Lacemakers’ Association (Nyplääjät ry) – imagination is the only limit in the use of lace. Lacemakers are present and lacemaking is instructed daily. Open 11.30–16

12.30 The opening of exhibitions by Lace Centre Emelia Staff cafeteria Kerttu Pruutmestarska, Kanalinranta 3 (courtyard of the city hall). Announcing the Lacemaker of the year 2018. On display: Lacemaker of the year 2017 Pirkko Peltola’s exhibition 19 Years of Lace in a Lace Workshop,  Emelia’s honorary member Hilkka Lehtinen’s exhibition Pondering – Experiments and Recycling, and the work of the international Bridge project, The Bridge that Unites Us. Lace products and lottery tickets for sale. Exhibitions and shop open 13-15.

13–15 Café of Lännen Martat Kanalinranta 3, courtyard of the city hall. Coffee, doughnuts, danishes, cakes, bread loaves. Opening hours vary.

20 Evening greeting The tower of the Old City Hall, Valtakatu 2. Juho Vilo, trumpet. The greeting of Rauma Brass Band Association.

Open yards in Old Rauma Old Rauma Association organises an event of open yards and flea markets during the Lace Week. Locals and tourists have an opportunity to take a look at the gardens and yards. The yards are open for visitors when there is an Old Rauma Association sign at the gate.

Lace window competition The entrepreneurs of Old Rauma have for many years honoured the theme of the week in their shop windows. The public has a possibility to vote for the best lace window of the week during the event.
